Nick's Canal Route Planner — CanalPlanAC — is an interactive guide to the inland waterways of Europe, it plans journeys, calculates the length (distance, number of locks, time taken etc) of your trip and shows gazetteer information on places along the way (pubs, shops and museums). It has an extensive collection of waterway photographs. If you have never used the software before, I recommend that you read the introduction before going any further, and then come back again.

To report a bug, request a new feature or make any other suggestion please follow the link in the left-hand menu and select the "issues" tab.

This is the static index page, which is displayed if you don't have Javascript turned on (if you are certain you have Javascript enabled, and can still see this page, then you have found a bug). Javascript is used all over the place in this verison of CanalPlanAC and you are likely to find it very painful to use (for example you will not be able to change any preferences). Nevertheless, basic planning should be possible and the links have been left in place for that reason. But if you have any option to turn Javascript on I recommend you take it for this site

This site works very badly on Internet Explorer version 6 and lower. Fixing this is not practical, particularly as IE6 is obsolete. There are at least two better versions available from Microsoft, as well as other excellent free browsers such as Firefox, Opera and Chrome. Please install any one of these if you possibly can.
