The lock Réchicourt-le-Chateau was built in 1965 as part of the development of the Canal de la Marne au Rhin East in order to allow navigation with a depth of 2.20m and to remove a sinuous channel section with 6 locks. The new canal route crosses the Réchicourt lake and required the creation of a dam. The lock is constructed of solid concrete with mitre gate upstream and downstream.
