Punchbowl Lock No 40

Punchbowl Lock No 40 is a minor waterways place on the Rochdale Canal between Littleborough Higher Lock No 47 (Properly called Durn Lock. Durn Bridge and footbridge) (1 mile and 1¼ furlongs and 6 locks to the southwest) and Todmorden Lock No 19 (Also called Library Lock) (4 miles and 2 furlongs and 20 locks to the north).
The nearest place in the direction of Littleborough Higher Lock No 47 is Punchbowl Bridge No R2; a few yards away.
The nearest place in the direction of Todmorden Lock No 19 is Second Lock below West Summit No 39; ¾ furlongs away.

This is a lock, the rise of which is not known.
