Summary0000086: Overnight stopping places in Google Earth
DescriptionHi, (I'm Dutch. So sorry for my English)

And I would like to suggest an extra function to Canalplan.

When planning a journey I normally export it to Google Earth.
In Google Earth I put pinpoints to the calculates overnight stopping places by hand. After that I go and look for each pinpoint and move it to a nearby place where mooring overnight is save, at a pub or just a nice mooring.

It would be nice to ad a possibility to automatically produce Google Earth pinpoints (*.kmz) to import in Google Earth.
After that I can take a look at each pinpoint and move it to a nice place, to complete my planning.

Last year I suggested to ad a nearest place when on board whith smartphone. You added this function and it works great. Thank you for that.

Kind regards from Holland.

It's a nice request. There are two things I need to do. One is to find a way to mark places as overnight stops in the intermediate (GPX) format, and then to see that they are translated into something that the export to Google Maps code (which is an external program, not something of my own) can recognise and turn into a marker.

I'll investigate to see if either or both of these are possible. If they are it should be trivial. If not, it won't be possible without writing my own KMZ export code which I'd really rather not do. Watch this space...

Could you upload to here a sample file once you've got it how you like it - reverse engineering that will give me the best chance of giving you exactly what you want!
