River Avon (Kennet and Avon Navigation)

The River Avon (Kennet and Avon Navigation) is a small river and is part of the River Avon - Bristol. It runs for 11 miles and 2½ furlongs through 5 locks from River Avon Junction (where it joins the Kennet and Avon Canal (Main Line) and the River Avon (above junction with the Kennet and Avon Canal)) to Hanham Lock No 1 (where it joins the River Avon - Bristol (Main River - Bath to Bristol)).

The maximum dimensions for a boat to be able to travel on the waterway are 75 feet long and 16 feet wide. The maximum headroom is 8 feet and 9 inches. The maximum draught is 4 feet and 3 inches.

Event notice: Kennet & Avon Canal, Navigation: Open, Towpath: Open - Lock 6, Weston Lock to Lock 5, Kelston Lock — from Saturday the 2nd of March, 2019 to Saturday the 2nd of March, 2019.

Avon County Spring Head This rowing event, organised by the Avon County Rowing Club, will take place on Saturday 2 March on the River Avon. The navigation will remain open but please proceed with care and follow the advice of the event organisers. The boats will use the river section between the old Railway Bridge (just above Bath Marina) and just upstream of the Avon County RC Boathouse at Saltford.
